For 20 years, as a reporter and news anchor, I watched AJ work. I watched him lead. I watched him make difficult decisions. And I watched him prove, time and again, that experience matters.

AJ treated the media with respect because he understood something fundamental: communicating with the media meant communicating with the community. When people needed answers, AJ understood they deserved them.

I’ve always believed the truest measure of a person is who they are when nobody is watching. No cameras. No applause. No campaign audience. Just a decision to make and the character to make the right one.

I’ve seen that AJ, too.

And this shouldn’t be a red issue or a blue issue. There’s no Republican way to protect a neighborhood and no Democratic way to answer a 911 call. Public safety belongs to everybody.

The sheriff takes an oath to uphold the law for all of us.

That requires someone who treats people with dignity and respect, regardless of who they are, what they believe or how they vote. Faith is personal. Character is demonstrated.

Experience matters, too.

AJ has managed significant funds for both the Police Pension Board and the Logansport Police Department. That means real budgets, real accountability and real responsibility. We’ve all managed household budgets. That isn’t the same thing.

For two decades, I didn’t have to take AJ Rozzi’s word for what kind of leader he was.

 "I have worked with AJ since 1989. I have witnessed him rise through ranks because of his strong work ethic and leadership skills. Even though we worked for different agencies, he never let that interfere when it came to getting the job done when we combined forces.

I cannot express in the words what a great person cop, leader he is. He will make a great Sheriff.

Elections shouldn't be based on hopes, dreams, promises or bought by local big spenders who want the thrill of getting there person elected.
